grade your day on the curve
I blog a lot about inspiration, motivation, and bright side kinds of things. Β I do it because it’s what I like to read, and because I like to smile and laugh (and make people smile and laugh).

But I have to admit, sometimes I am terrible at the whole Enjoy the Moment stuff. I try, I really do. But sometimes I feel like an overexposed, turned inside out kind of being. Maybe it’s an introvert thing, maybe it’s just a human thing. πŸ™‚ But when thatΒ happens, the last thing I want to do is FEEL. In fact, all I want to do is hide.

And sometimes I do.

But last month I participated in a Twitter hashtag party, where we tweeted photos of things that made us happy. Each day it was fun to check my day for that happy thing. It was kind of like writing in a gratitude journal.

And it was easy. I love taking pictures and making virtual art projects, so for me it’s a simple way of marking a happy moment.

So I’m going to keep on making note of those smiley moments. I’m calling this little social media gratitude project, Grade Your Day on the Curve. Each day you note the moment, feeling, person, place, or thing that made your face turn up in a curvy smile.

Feel free to join me, you can post with #smile if you want. I’ll be doing it on Instagram, Twitter, and probably Facebook and Pinterest too. Β I’ll bask in a smile whenever and wherever. πŸ™‚

So what was a smiley moment for me today? Β The kindness of a friend who is not only supportive, awesome, and a picture book author, but kind of lives in the future (aka Australia).

Please hop on over and check out this post by my friend, Alarna Rose Gray.

Have a happy weekend!

You gave me my smiley moment today, Coleen! Back at you πŸ™‚ (And I guess we do live in the future! I’ll have to tell our politicians that πŸ˜‰ ). Have a great day!

You are an amazing person and I love the sound of this new project. #smile, just the sound of it puts a smile on my face. That twitter hashtag party sounds like it was a lot of fun. I am horrible at actually getting the pictures off my camera. The last time they sat there until I was forced to remove them because the card was full. 😐 Everything takes time. I seriously need a clone of myself to get it all done. That would be such a lovely gift. Now that puts a smile on my face. LOL.

Yay, love all the positivity. Today downloading fun photos of my first baseball game last night put a big smile on my face!

What a sweet idea. Now that winter seems to be over (60 degrees today), I am more up for being all happy and smiley and just saying that it’s because of the sun! lol. I read Alarna’s post, and it was so beautifully written, it even put a smile on my face. πŸ™‚

Great post and reminder. I smiled today because I made it all the way through my son’s 2nd soccer game without it raining. The 1st game, I wasn’t so lucky. But smiles for 1 out of 2.

Your photos are always awesome, Coleen. We all need things/people that make us smile. Your blog posts are great for making people smile. And Alarna rocks! I love that girl. I never thought about her living in the future! Ha-ha! That made me smile! Take care and enjoy your week.

Thanks, Lynn. Her living in the future really seemed funny to me when she posted before me and still her post was dated a day later! πŸ™‚

What a lovely idea! Let’s see… what made me smile today was getting to meet in person 2 people I’ve only known online (well, one I knew in real life a long, long time ago, but just barely) Anyway, it was wonderful! πŸ™‚

My smiley moment was when I found my dog stuck under the kitchen table because we pushed all the chairs in at lunch. Instead of whining or crying, he simply curled up and took a nap. πŸ˜‰

What made me smile today? Seeing this post in my inbox waaaaay down there and realizing I hadn’t read it yet (and therefore wasn’t losing my mind to the brain eating disease!). I love the idea. I think I’m going to go back to taking a picture a day ~ not to post on FB or anything, just for myself, of something that made me smile. Last year when I did my gratitude pic a day it kind of stressed me out to get just the ‘right’ picture for FB, but if I don’t add that element of stress to my day, I think I’ll have more fun with it. Who knows, I’ll probably end up putting more pics on Instagram and FB than I did last year!

Your posts always make me smile, Coleen. It’s one of the joys of this writing/blogging gig. Truly.

Thank you, Tameri! I know what you mean about thinking the pic needs to be just right. That’s why I like Instagram the most for this. Somehow it feels more informal. πŸ™‚
