How do you conquer the blank page? Are you a cat or a dog (or perhaps a bug aficionado) person? We don’t have any pets right now, other than some free loading spiders in the garage, but I spend a lot of time drawing animals.
Hope you have a smashing weekend! *

Yes, that’s when I’m most vulnerable to anxious thoughts, or procrastination! Thanks, Catherine:)

Great cartoon! I have found it much easier to tackle if I take a go at it every day – mornings are best, before any tension can build!

LOL – great comic! (And way to shut up that internal editor! 🙂 )

Right? That internal editor can be the pits sometimes. Thanks, Jennette!

Love this!
I make a detailed outline before I start a novel. That way, I always have a place to start. I end up changing things along the way, so it doesn’t box me in, but it helps keep that writer’s block at bay!

Thanks, Carrie! Yes it’s so helpful to have some plan. I tend to set up a structure/list of story beats–and then I turn into a pantster. 😉

Thanks, Ruth! Yeah, as I practice my drawing/illustration skills I’ve been adding drawings here and there to my shop. Sort of an accountability thing and also to test the waters of what things get people’s attention. 🙂

What a cute cartoon! I love it!! Starting is hard but it’s also the most adventurous part of writing. I get a lot out of acknowledging that I’m about to take on a challenge and giving myself a small goal for that writing block–the muse takes care of the rest!

Yes, adventurous! Such a great way to put it, Kate! 🙂 Thanks so much for stopping by!

Your cartoon really made me laugh – thank you! It’s true that we have to make sure not to listen to that voice or bug that says it’s not good enough. It’s always buzzing around, so I’m glad you smashed it.

Thanks, Sheila! Yeah that voice, when it gets like that, needs to be squashed. 🙂

Love this cute and quirky cartoon Coleen I rarely have a blank page. My problem being I have too many ideas and never finish any of them. But this year I am quieting the mind and concentrating on on project. Thats the hardest thing for me. I can’t imagine you struggling with the blank page for long, with wonderful art like this.

Thanks, Kath! I’m with you on the ideas front. The blank page happens for me when that pesky internal voice, the one rooted in fear, gets loud. Or I listen to it. It’s helpful to know others can relate!!

Bwa Ha Ha!!! That nagging bug is the worst. I’m going to shut down this computer and squish something on the page right now.
