Idea adrenaline? I’m all in.
Running while being chased by bulls adrenaline? Not so much.
But when I got the opportunity to see this adrenaline junkie action up close and you-can-smell the-bulls personal, I didn’t hesitate.
Because The Great Bull Run is another historical moment for Virginia. Apparently this was the first bull run in the United States (it’s right up there with the founding of Jamestown and the Civil War).
And because, I was very curious about a bull run (and an engineered food fight).
Some people wore costumes. I was disguised as a Media VIP.
There were lots of cowboys.
The bulls seemed happy to pose for me. Maybe it was my badge.
Runners enter here.
Then open the gate. I think that bull was winking at me.
Run
There was only one way out: Climb the fence.
Then to round off the event, there was a food fight. With 50,000 tomatoes.
Again, gates were opened.
Tomato chaos. Ketchup in the making.
A Tomato Royale mess.
Are you an adrenaline junkie? Have you ever been in a food fight?
Happy Monday! 🙂

A running of the bulls in Virginia — that is a first. You didn’t run did you?? Did you know anyone who ran? No, I’m not an adrenaline junkie. Great photos. Loved the tomato fight.

I did not run. I’m not fast enough. 😉 But I had a great view over on the media/VIP side of the fence. That was close enough for me!

Friend, you know how to live.
I might try the food fight … but the bull run?
I don’t think so …
But I do like challenges. I do like adrenaline … some kinds.

I like some kinds of adrenaline too, but then there is a part of me that thinks life is scary enough! Sometimes being the observer is more than enough fun for me. I had a great time watching this event!

Not an adrenaline junkie but love rushes when life gets too boring. They’re getting harder to find.

This event was one of those ones that just surprised me. It had a festival/5K feel, but then got my curiosity going all haywire. Love when that happens. But I’m not into the danger stuff and running this did have a big danger element. I heard afterward that someone got their leg stepped on and broken. Yikes.

I would so love to do this! Especially the tomoto food fight! After just running a Warrior dash I am so into this fun stuff. Your pics made this post! Did not know there is a bull run here in the states.

I can so see you doing this Phil! This event was the first for the Great Bull Run, but I believe they are set to do more across the states. 🙂

I had heard there were tomato wars somewhere between Colorado and Texas. It looks like a blast. Running from the bulls, a very good idea. Getting in there in the first place? Not so much…

I think I’d do the tomato thing. They do have some safety rules, although they also had trucks with beer which was very obvious when some peeps stopped following the rules…:)

That looks like it might be kind of fun. As a bull owner, I’m not so sure I’d like to run out of those pens any more than I’ve already had to do, but it still looks like fun for everyone else.
I have a plaque on the wall outside my house that says, “No trespassing unless you can make it to the gate in 9.9 seconds because the bull can do it in 10.”
Fun pictures.

Okay. This is a tidbit of information that got by me (then again, I think we’ve established my crappy memory)…you own a bull??

More than one, actually. My husband and I raise bucking bulls for the rodeo and PBR. It’s an expensive hobby, but fun, too.
You ever want to run from the bulls, you give me a call.

I’m fascinated, Patricia! I don’t want to run from them, but I’d love to see them. 🙂

Driving my car down the dragstrip – in a non-competitive run! – is about as much adrenaline as I do! The running of the Bulls is something I’d prefer to watch at a distance – same for the food fight!

I saw my first ever drag strip race a few weeks ago. That was super cool too. I’m not sure I could handle being in one of the cars with those roll bars–but I’d watch from the sideline!!

You seriously find the coolest stuff to do! This would be a blast and would probably go over well in our area. 🙂 And I love the quote at the top. Excellent!

Thanks, Leigh! Yeah, I loved that quote too. It’s the kind of adrenaline I’m most used to.

I think I am the opposite of an adrenaline junkie. But I do enjoy watching others have that kind of fun.

This looks wild and crazy! I admire your stealth, getting in their as a media VIP 😉 As well as having a healthy admiration for the sign of my zodiac, which is maybe one reason you wouldn’t get me in there. Observer from the sides, with you, for sure!

I have to admit it was very cool to have that badge and the access that came with it. I felt like a groupie who got a backstage pass. LOL 🙂

I’m definitely not an adrenaline junkie but that huge food fight looks like a blast. I feel like it would be so fun to channel your inner child with something like that, while simultaneously taking out some mild aggression. LOL Looks like you had a fun and crazy time!

Great post, Coleen! Those people are crazy. Did anyone get hurt? The tomato food fight would be fun. You sure did have a great vantage point to take pics and videos. They turned out awesome. I didn’t know you had a YouTube channel. That video is intense!

I’m still working on a fun video, but in the meantime I’m posting some of my travels and stuff.
Yes, someone did get hurt 😦 broken leg from getting stepped on by a bull. Also someone in the stands got hit in the head by a remote control drone camera. Crazy!

Love your photos, especially the one of the bulls “posing” for a picture. Of course your badge impressed them; they’re wearing badges, too.
I’d never, ever, run with the bulls but might test my luck with the tomatoes.

I’ve ran from a bull, but it was a very private event (in the neighbor’s pasture). The chain in his nose slowed him down enough for me to win (climb the fence). It was NOT fun !

Doesn’t sound like fun, but oh, I can imagine the adrenaline! Thanks for stopping by!
