It’s springtime and I’m thinking about sunny days, vacation, gardens, going for walks outside and okay cleaning out the fridge.
But even spring cleaning somehow feels . . . liberating.
Have I lost you?
I don’t particularly like to clean. If there was an easy way to turn my house upside down and shake out all the dust and crumbs, I would be doing it.
But what I do like is the clean slate. Spring brings another chance to start anew.
There’s hope in spring–and not just the season. The word alone brings to mind words like:
Rise.
Leap.
Move.
Skip.
Bounce.
Hop.
Vault.
Grow.
Release.
Spring can make you feel like your life is wide open.
“It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want —oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!“
~Mark Twain
What does Spring mean to you? What are you looking forward to?
I LOVE spring and yet this morning I have my first case of allergies! I never had them until I moved to Colorado 25 years ago….luckily they will be over soon and I will go through the summer allergy free. Now if I could just motivate to clean out my refrigerator…..

Two words: Spring Break! It also means lighter days with a greater chance of seeing the sun, although it snowed here yesterday for a few minutes. Spring does make me happy because I love the sun and wearing dresses and sandals. You have made me happy today!

Yay for happy–and sandals (with painted toenails!)

Walking with my favorite furry friends! And being able to leave them outside while I write, instead of getting interrupted every time they see someone else walking a furry friend and start barking like crazy. 🙂 I love being able to open the windows, especially in the car!

Spring is less remarkable since moving to LA. In Minnesota, though, look OUT! 😉 Shorts and tees come out when the temp pops up above 50. I’m looking forward to enjoying it with my family during a visit in a couple of months. Feeling like our lives are wide open—LOVE that!

I could do without the cleaning too, but digging in the dirt is fun! I love cleaning up my garden, planting bright flowers, and then tending to them while they grow. It’s all about a fresh start, a new beginning. Who doesn’t like the chance to “start afresh”? It’s intoxicating!

Oh that’s lovely Coleen. Spring is great, cleaning not so much. I made a start on my neglected windows the other day. As for cupboards yikes! Love the start fresh theme though.

Yep, you’re speaking my language. I was actually thinking of a similar post, so I think a lot of us are on the same page. We just had spring break and it was divine. I love the time change to we get more out of each day. It just means summer is around the corner and I’m such a summer girl! Bring it on!! 🙂

I have to agree with what August said except that my yard comes alive with flowers. I love that part of spring! I enjoy the freedom of slipping my feet into flip flops every day and bundling up a little less.

Hi Colleen! I love the Mark Twain quote…sums up exactly what I’m feeling right now! The thing is, it has been so lovely outside, I haven’t wanted to stay in and clean. But there are other ways to clear the cobwebs, right? I did get to my fridge last week though. Yay! Spring! 🙂

Spring in Colorado is a lot different than spring in my native Georgia. It’s still sort of brown here. We’ve had nice weather and that’s been nice. I’m grateful we have plenty of sunny days here. Last year, it snowed on Easter Sunday. Pastel colors seemed inappropriate. Hubby is planting seeds, so we’re getting ready for our growing season.

Well unfortunately, the first thing I think about when I hear “spring,” is allergies, but that’s kind of depressing. I do like to clean my house from top to bottom, open all the doors and windows, and clean out the refrigerator. Something about re-birth and awakening makes me want to start fresh too.
My favorite part of spring are the baby everythings. Teeny quail, fawns, cows, bunnies, even baby skunks are just adorable and abundant in the srping. Flowing trees and bulbs are so beautiful.
By far, the one thing I love above all other things, is vacation!! Time to start planning that ultimate get-away.

Hello Coleen!
We didn’t have much of a winter in CA, but I’m looking forward to spring. Planting roses and repotting flowers. Magnolia and cherry blosssoms. Cleaning out the utility closet and sorting through my husband’s light bulb collection. Just had my first session with the trainer. Not in traction yet, but as long as I can type, I’m okay with it. 🙂

Spring = daffodils.
Daffodils = my favorite flower.
My husband and youngest child have planted dozens of daffodils in my front yard. Each spring I/we watch for the signs of daffodils sprouting. First the shoots … then the leaves … then the yellow buds …
When I see that, I know it’s spring.
And I also see a tangible reminder of my family’s love for me.

I love day lilies and have a half-dozen different types that bloom at different times. One variety is up already.
Blue bonnets are in bloom in my part of Texas and the azaleas are glorious.

That quote by Twain is fabulous. Said so perfectly.
I totally have spring fever. I love to when I get in the mood to do some serious cleaning. Spring cleaning is great, but sometimes its hard for me to get in the mood. I love when the cleaning need finally hits and then it all begins. Feels so good!

Spring in SoCal usually means high winds, rain, cold days, but I still love it. The hillsides are green for once (they’re usually brown and ready for a fire) and all around wild flowers bloom. Gorgeous!
I also like Spring cleaning. Opening all the windows and airing out the house while making it all nice and tidy. If only it would last until Winter. *sigh*
Your kids are adorable!
